New York University's Hindi Urdu Teacher Training Institute held a three day online pedagogy workshop with the support of the Center for Educational Initiatives
On April 8th -10th 2022 (1:00PM-4:00PM EST) New York University's Hindi Urdu Teacher Training Institute held a three day online pedagogy workshop with the support of the Center for Educational Initiatives. The workshop was sponsored by STARTALK and the Hagop Kevorkian Center, NYU. It was facilitated by NYU's teacher training affiliates Ms. Romeena Kureishy and Bhavya Singh.
The workshop was attended by 51 Hindi Urdu instructors from community based heritage schools, high schools and higher ed institutions from the United States, India, and Pakistan. The sessions objectives were to build and enhance language teachers' pedagogical skills and included the Bloom's taxonomy, differentiation, implementation of the World-Readiness Standards, ACTFL Can Do's, along with age- and proficiency-appropriate instructional strategies. Through hands-on tasks teachers also learned how to integrate these instructional strategies in the three modes of communication within their language classrooms. The workshop conducted comprehensive H5P interactive training using NYU's LACE Academy LMS made available by the Center for Educational Initiatives. In addition, they participated in the online discussion and feedback through the workshop's Padlet.
